The Holy Spirit - What A Gift!

But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate[a] won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.  The world’s sin is that it refuses to believe in me.  Righteousness is available because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more. Judgment will come because the ruler of this world has already been judged.
“There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now.  When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.  He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me. All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, ‘The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.’

— John 16:7-15

When Jesus ascended into heaven, He left us with something special. The Holy Spirit is a gift God has given His children so that we can be empowered by God Himself! If Jesus Christ Himself was right next to you all day long, how would you live? If you knew you had Jesus to back you up in every decision you made, how would your career change? If the body of the Son of God followed you around, what would you say? Would you have that lingering health problem? Would you have those bouts of depression and fear?

That’s why the Holy Spirit was sent. The Bible says God won’t leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). He’s with us ALL THE TIME! How? Through the Holy Spirit. There are so many wonderful benefits to being filled with the Holy Spirit. I would even dare to say life without the Holy Spirit will be a life without power! A life where Christianity is a drag and uphill battle. If you’ve tried to overcome sin in your life but feel it’s an impossibility, try the Holy Spirit!

Being filled with the Holy Spirit is one of the most important decisions a believer can make after getting saved and it is a decision. For too long the Holy Spirit has been mocked and ridiculed. Speaking in tongues is looked at as something for weirdos or people who think they’re more “holier than thou”. Within the next few days, let’s tackle why it’s the BEST decision you’ll ever make and how to get filled with this wonderful power.
