The reason most people slip back into their old habits and sinful nature is because they look back. After having a powerful encounter with God, why would anyone go back to the way things were? Because they keep looking back! Once you dedicate your life to the Lord, DON'T LOOK BACK!
James 1:23-25 says " For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it." That old drug addict is dead. That woman full of depression and anxiety was crucified with Christ.
The Bible says in order for you to progress and lead a successful Christian life, you need to look to the perfect law (the Bible) that sets you free!! You can't do the things you've always done. You can't go to the places you've always gone. YOU are the one that needs to make the proper changes to continue on growing with Jesus. YOU are the one that needs to do what God's Word says and NOT forget what you've heard!
Remember what Romans 8:1-2 says, "So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death." The power of sin is broken off of you! The Spirit of God has freed you from all of the devil's plan and oppression in your life!
If you've never accepted Jesus into your heart pray this prayer OUT LOUD.
Forgive me of my sin! I believe Jesus Christ died for me. I receive Him now as Lord and Saviour of my life. Thank you, Father, for breaking the power of sin over my life through the blood of Jesus. Fill me now with your wonderful Spirit, never to be the same again. The old is gone and today I am born again! I am free from all sin and addiction!
In the name of Jesus!
And just like that, your life will never be the same! If you prayed that, I want to send you a Bible so contact me at Adalis@revivaltoday.com.
