12 Days To Perfect Love - The Purpose For Perfect Love

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
— John 3:16

The Love of God has a purpose to it. God loved us so much that He gave the only thing He had to give, His Son, Jesus. For the last twelve days, we’ve studied the power of God’s love. We’ve come to realize the potency of its effects on our lives and the incredible ability it has to drive away the darkness. This love is readily available through spending time in prayer and God’s Word. So, now, what?

Some of you began this study thinking there was no way out of darkness and despair but you’ve learned the truth. The devil has a way of deceiving us into thinking there’s no way out. The Word of God says in John 8:32 “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” The truth of God’s Word is the ammo needed to take your enemy out. There will come a point in your walk with Christ (for some of you that’s NOW) where the Word of God will overwhelm your mind and thoughts. You’ll come to this realization when people say things against the Word. Upon hearing the phrases, “I’m broke!” and “I know I’m going to get sick,” your skin will crawl.

The purpose of being filled with this love doesn't end at conquering your fear. It doesn't end with you never having a sad day in your life. It doesn't stop when your health is perfect, and everything is great. The purpose of this love is to distribute it.

Matthew 10:8 says, “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.” There she is! As you’ve freely received the victory over your problem, you must freely give it. You need to tell other about the power of Jesus! It’s your duty! The beautiful thing about this perfect love is that it actually casts out all fear!! You become bold. The devil may have messed with you, but God turned it around! You were as good as dead, but God came in and saved you! Remind yourself of that.

It’s too good to hoard it. Dish it out! Do whatever you can to help your sisters or brothers. You recognize the look of depression, pray over someone and break the stronghold over their life. You know what it is to be sick, lay your hands on someone and see them healed! The love of God COMPELS us!

2 Corinthian 5:14-15 says, “For the love of Christ controls and compels us, because we have concluded this, that One died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all, so that all those who live would no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and was raised for their sake.” Verse 17 continues, “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” The love that Paul and Timothy experienced compelled them to tell people about Jesus. They couldn't keep it to themselves. They risked their lives to do it. This is the purpose of perfected love!

The answer is Jesus Christ. The remedy is Jesus Christ. The joy is Jesus Christ. The fulfillment is Jesus Christ. The healing is Jesus Christ. Jesus made it possible for us to experience this love. He made it possible for us to be saved. It was through the shed blood of Jesus that we become more than conquerors! How can we keep that to ourselves?!

Prayer & Confession:

“Father, thank you for the sacrifice of your Son. Thank you, that He made a way where there was no way. Thank you for the precious blood of Jesus that cleanses and renews. Thank you that Jesus made it possible for me to live eternally with you. You’ve made His name the name above ALL others. Every name bows to the name of Jesus. Fear bows. Cancer bows. Depression bows. Death bows. If it has a name, His name is greater! As I continue to tap into the overflow of your love, use me to spread it! Make me a channel of your love that distributes it to a lost and dying world. Your love compels me to GO and make disciples. Your love compels me to lay my hands on the sick and see them recover. Your love compels me to love the unlovable. Use me today, to tell people about this glorious freedom. Use me and my testimony to spread the Gospel all around the world. In the mighty name of Jesus!”
