A Debt You Owe

Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law.

— Romans 13:8

Did you know there’s a debt you owe? I’m not talking about student loans or medical bills. The Bible says in Romans 13:8 that we must owe no man anything EXCEPT to love one another. As a believer, ESPECIALLY one that feels called to ministry, you have a debt of love to show the world. This love for one another is what compels us to do what we do.

I often think why it’s so easy for people to walk away from ministry and this is the reason. It’s easy to say God calls you into ministry when you don't recognize there’s a debt you owe. So, they quit the ministry because it’s “too hard” or “the doors were closed.” If you can understand this, EVERYTHING will change!

When you live your life trying to fulfill this debt you owe, nothing in the world will stop you. This is the only thing we can do to give back to a God who saved us from the burning flames of hell. This is how we can show the impact Christ has in our lives. This is what should fuel your ministry and LIFE!

Has He been good to you? Has He spared your life on a few occasions? Are you breathing and reading this? Then there’s a debt you owe. This scripture doesn't take into consideration your emotions or what has happened in your life before this point, it only tells us to love one another. Forgive people, make amends with your co-worker, call your family member, love one another. Do as Jesus did and LOVE people! Let this be the driving force in all you do, in Jesus name!
