Work Hard To Prove You're Saved

7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.

8 The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.

10 So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.

— 2 Peter 1:7-10

7 and in your godliness, brotherly affection, and in your brotherly affection, [develop Christian] love [that is, learn to unselfishly seek the best for others and to do things for their benefit].
— 2 Peter 1:7 AMP

Being godly, kind and loving are the three qualities that bring this passage to a close. These aren’t things we have to “work” at or things that we can choose to do or not do. If you want to live a frustrated free life, these are things we must apply to our lives RIGHT NOW! It doesn't matter how you feel, or what’s been done. We must choose to OBEY God’s Word in order to see a life full victory and joy! Amen?!

Godliness embodies your actions and thoughts. The moment the Word of God comes alive in your Spirit, it overtakes your mind and actions. What used to be a difficult thing, comes naturally. When you encounter God’s love through His Word, an overflow happens. That overflow trickles into every aspect of your life. Which is why it’s lead with “brotherly affection”. This brotherly affection in another version is called kindness. Do you know how many believers I meet that claim they love God but show no kindness! It’s crazy!

Your brotherly affection is what draws people to God. Your warmth and kindness have everything to say about the relationship you have with our Creator. Those who claim they love God and are harsh or mean spirited, have never allowed God’s love to penetrate their very being. IF you’ve ever experience this kind of God love, it makes the hardest heart soft and supple. God’s love exposes every dark corner in our lives and opens wide every door we want shut! It humbles you. It helps you. It makes you appreciate the sacrifice Jesus paid on the cross. It makes you a person who embodies it. It creates an urgency to share it.

When we’re godly, we show brotherly affection, and when we show this kindness, we begin to love. The Amplified Bible says it best, “love [that is, learn to unselfishly seek the best for others and to do things for their benefit].” When you get to a place where you learn to unselfishly see the best for others and do things to benefit them with NOT STRINGS ATTACHED, you’ve loved.

Look at verses 8-10! “The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.10 So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.”

Did I read that correctly or did that just say “Do these things, and you will never fall away?” Yeap, I read that and so did you.

These are things we grow in and as we grow in them, our knowledge of God increases and makes us MORE USEFUL AND PRODUCTIVE. But if we ignore these things, we risk failure!! I don't want to be shortsighted or blind and neither do you. So, lets WORK HARD to prove we’ve been called! There’s a work that needs to be done in all of us to PROVE, we are Believers. Never forget that. “It’s not about works”, they say. In regards to salvation that’s true, but after you get saved there’s a work you do to PROVE to God and the human race that you’re saved. Let’s work harder than ever to apply these truths to our lives. In Jesus name!
