Know It, Act On It And Patiently Endure!

5 In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.

8 The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.

10 So, dear brothers and sisters,[a] work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.
— 2 Peter 1:5-10

The major reason people backslide or live constantly frustrated in their walk with God is —knowledge. If you ask your unsaved loved ones if they love God, the answer’s always a ‘yes’. But your feelings have very little to do with love. People will go their whole lives talking about how much they love God, but if they never took time to profess Him as Lord and Savior, it was all for nothing. Love requires an action.

In 2 Peter 1:6 it says, “and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness”. Your knowledge comes from the Word of God and is then expressed through your self control. You can’t claim to love God while having sex with your boy/girlfriend. You can’t say you love God without going to church on Sunday! There’s a direct correlation between the knowledge of God’s Word and the action you take to implement it in your life! Those who love God obey, they do what the Word of God says! (John 14:23)

Is it any wonder the Bible gives us these instructions in Galatians 6:9? “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” There’s a tendency to give up and quit doing what is right! That’s where patient endurance comes in.

People live a roller coaster life having ups and downs every year and it’s because they GAVE UP. If you have the knowledge, have obeyed God’s Word but haven't seen a great breakthrough, DEVELOP YOUR PATIENCE! The time for throwing in the towel is NEVER. (If you’re called to ministry, pay close attention to this!) Most people will walk away from God’s will because they never exercised patient endurance. They were called to ministry but never had an open door, so they took a job in sales to pay for their bills. Then they meet someone they were never supposed to meet, get married and start their lives no where near the will of God!  See how quickly a life can go astray if you aren't PATIENT!?

Don’t give up. BE PATIENT. Things might look like their not moving, remain steady! Apply God’s knowledge to your everyday life and patiently endure the perfect will of God to unravel! In Jesus' name!
