Hurricane

35As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” 36So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). 37But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water.

38Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”

39When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. 40Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

41The disciples were absolutely terrified. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “Even the wind and waves obey him!”

— Mark 4:35-41

With it being hurricane season I felt impressed to write about the authority you carry. As a believer we’ve been endowed with a responsibility. That responsibility is to do what Jesus did! John 14:12-14 says “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.  You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.  Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!

You see it? Anyone who believes can do what Jesus did! Don’t send one more request to a minister, YOU DO IT. Don’t start a prayer chain on Facebook, YOU pray! 1 John 4:17 says “In this is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

As He is in heaven, full of majesty, power and wonder, so ARE WE IN THIS WORLD! You and I are full of God’s power and dominion. All we need to do is activate it with our mouth! Whatever hurricane is brewing command it to be silent and still! You have the power to stop the work of the devil or the work of nature. If Jesus could calm the storm, so can you and I. So, go ahead, tell that storm to cease in Jesus name!
