Anointing With Oil

“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep. “At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ “Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’ “‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. “Later the others also came. ‘Sir! Sir!’ they said. ‘Open the door for us!’ “But he replied, ‘I tell you the truth, I don’t know you.’

Bring extra oil! The oil is significant of the anointing in your life. That word anoint comes from chrio, which means “to smear or rub with oil.” Its origin came from a practice shepherds had with their sheep. When there were insects on the wool of the sheep, the bugs would make a home there and multiply. If those bugs made it to the ears of the sheep they would burrow in and kill the sheep. The shepherds then would smear or rub oil all over the sheep’s head in order for the insects to slide off the wool.

That’s where anointing with oil came from! Roman 11:17 refers to God as an olive tree whom we’re connected to. God is the oil! When we anoint ourselves with the oil of God, He keeps every parasite from trying to kill us. When we anoint with oil, it consecrates (separates) us from those things in the world. That’s why the oil must never run out!

We cannot be lulled to sleep. We cannot give up on the 11th hour. We must stay prepared. We must keep in the anointing. Look at the statistics, y’all! Five of the ten brides didn't make it to the wedding banquet because they were ill prepared. That’s 50%!!!

You cannot borrow the oil. If you think you’ll make it to heaven on your parents, husband or wife’s anointing you are sadly mistake. You must carry your OWN oil. You must be prepared for the day Jesus will come (which is very soon!) all on your own, independent of any person in your life.

Stay in the Word and in the anointing. Form daily habits of reading or listening to the Word of God. Understand that the oil can run out! You can’t live on the oil from last year or last month! It has to remain fresh, DAILY. There is power in consistency! The more you partake of the Word or preaching of God’s Word, the more powerful your spirit becomes!

Hebrews 1:9 says “You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; this is why God, Your God, has anointed You, rather than Your companions, with the oil of joy.” Proverbs 17:22 says “A joyful heart is good medicine”. Receive the power and strength that comes from the oil today in Jesus name!
