The Only Fear We Should Have

The [reverent] fear of the Lord is the beginning (the prerequisite, the absolute essential, the alphabet) of wisdom;
A good understanding and a teachable heart are possessed by all those who do the will of the Lord;
His praise endures forever.
— Psalm 111:10 AMP

The only fear that’s healthy to have is the fear of the Lord. Fearing God is more than being reverent and respectful as some may say. Fearing God is coming to the knowledge that He is the Holy One (Proverbs 9:10). Do you remember hearing the Gospel for the first time? I don’t know about you but I was scared. I knew deep within my heart that I wasn’t pleasing God. The fear of being separated from God was introduced and my heart began to race. So much so that I  ran up to the altar thinking my heart would explode!

Don’t ever lose that fear for God. Don’t ever live your life without being guarded.

Guard your salvation. “If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall.” 1 Cor. 10:12 Guard yourself against offending the Holy Spirit.And do not bring sorrow to God's Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.” Ephesians 4:20
Guard yourself against disobeying His Word. “If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.” Deuteronomy 28:!

Every person that came into contact with Almighty God fell to their face in terror. He’s the creator and maker of all the World. He is the Beginning and the End. Revelations 1:14-18 describes God, ”He was wearing a long robe with a gold sash across his chest. His head and his hair were white like wool, as white as snow. And his eyes were like flames of fire. His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and his voice thundered like mighty ocean waves. He held seven stars in his right hand, and a sharp two-edged sword came from his mouth. And his face was like the sun in all its brilliance.” The verse after that is John falling as “one dead” in His presence. He is the HOLY ONE. Everything in the presences of such pure holiness is put to shame. So we must live our lives apart from the world and HOLY! (1 Peter 1:16) The way you fear God is to “do the will of the Lord.” We must not only hear the Word but do what God says is right and abstain from all He says is wrong! If you fear God, you put the Word of God as your number one priority. Is He your number one priority?
