You’ll never encounter God’s perfect love without knowing who He is. Can you imagine walking up to a stranger and professing your love to them? How can you fall in love with someone you don't know? How can you lift your hands to God in adoration, when you don’t have the slightest idea of who He is?
John 1:1 reveals a powerful revelation; God and His Word (the Bible) are one in the same. God, the Father has given us His Word so that we could find out who He is. At this moment, you have the potential of finding things out about God that would leave you speechless. He wants each one of us to encounter Him through His Word.
Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” When you pick up your Bible, you aren't reading an ordinary book. This book is ALIVE and ACTIVE. When you read it, you activate power to be released on your behalf. When you take time in the study of God’s Word, you spend time with God!
One of the biggest problems people face today is loneliness. In the midst of the crowds and your eight hundred Facebook friends, people still feel alone. The Bible tells us in Deuteronomy 31:6, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” God is trying to speak to you, but He won't be able to until you decide to read His letter! He says He’ll never leave you alone or abandon you. He’s with you through it all!
Every problem, every sickness, every disease and every unanswered question has an answer! It’s found in Him, and “Him” is the Word of God! He’s your Father. Would a father want his kids walking around aimlessly? Boggled down with every care in this world? No! (Not a good father, anyway.) The beginning of a glorious, impactful, love-filled life begins with the knowledge of who He is. Get to know God today.!
Prayer and Confession:
“Heavenly Father, I thank you for your faithfulness towards me! Thank you for never giving up on me. When I made stupid decisions, you had mercy on me. When I sinned, you forgave me. I know you’ll never leave me and you’ll never abandon me. When I have those feeling of loneliness, I know it doesn't come from you! Your Word remains true whether I feel it or not. You are always with me! Thank you for being a good Dad! Today I ask you to reveal yourself to me. Speak to me through your Word. Let every Word I hear and read penetrate deep down into my spirit. I will give your Word first place in my life. I will spend time with you. I will fall deeper and deeper in love with you. You’re a wonderful God! In Jesus’ name!”
Get a journal! When you read God’s Word have a pen and a journal ready. Don’t read the Bible out of habit. Come in with expectancy. Start reading your Word KNOWING He’ll speak to you and He absolutely will!
