The Power Of Love

If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.

— 1 Cor. 13:1-3

I often think about the power of God’s love. In it lies the power to drive out all manner of fear (1 John 4:18). Love is as strong as death (SOS 8:6). Love is the brightest kind of flame (SOS 8:6). God is love (1 John 4:8). Love is what compelled God to redeem man! (John 3:16) The Love of God is the most potent force on earth!

The greatest thing we’re commanded to do is to “love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” (Matt. 22:37) If you feel insecure, if you’ve not seen your future in God, this is where you begin. When you love God, you give Him YOUR HEART. Can you imagine a man asking for a woman's hand in marriage and in return she gives him her property? A car? A phone call every once and while? It wouldn't be enough! Why? Because he wants her heart.

God loves you so much. He loves everything about you. You keep doing things to show Him you love him, but have you given Him your heart? Is He Lord over your heart? Are you spending time with Him? Have you told Him how much you love Him?

Is it possible to be saved and not love God? Absolutely! There are many Americans that reap the benefits that come along with citizenship but they haven't been drafted in the Army. See, when you give God your heart, you give Him the power over your very life! Where He tells you to go, you go. What He tells you to say, you say. What He tells you to do, you do. We must love God in order to see Him in every aspect of our life.

Are there areas in your life that are lacking? If you answered yes…Is He the Great Shepherd of your life? (Psalm 23)
