The devil will try to throw things in your life to get you to lose your peace. We must be diligent about keeping our peace! I find 1 Peter 3:11 very interesting, it says you must “seek the peace and pursue it”. Peace doesn’t search for you, you must search after it.
Don’t let the enemy rob you of your peace. If he robs you of peace, he’ll also help himself to your joy! Proverb 4:23 says,“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” How do we guard our heart? Philippians 4:7 says, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” This is why we must pursue peace! In order to protect our hearts, we must protect the peace!
Every problem in your life has its root in a loss of peace. Your peace may have been stolen because of a child who left the faith or a health issue that suddenly came on you. Whatever the cause, seek the peace! The only kind of peace is the one that stems from God. It’s the peace that defies emotion and reason— exceeding anything you can understand!
Psalm 23 is good reminder for us as to why we should seek and continue to be in pursuit of peace. Read it every day and understand what’s available to every child of God who makes Jesus the Great Shepherd of their life.
The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows;
He leads me beside peaceful streams.
He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to his name.
Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,[a]
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.
You prepare a feast for me
in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.
My cup overflows with blessings.
Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the Lord
