Cheer Up!

And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.

— Matthew 9:2

Webster’s Dictionary defines the word ‘cheer’ as, “To dispel gloom, sorrow, silence or apathy; to cause to rejoice; to gladden; to make cheerful.” I’ve read this story many times before but one thing stood out to me today—that word cheer! If you’ve been sick for the last 30 years or have been diagnosed with something within the last hour, you can receive your healing right now.

From the words of Jesus, it all begins with making yourself be of good cheer. As long as you keep the gloom, sorrow and silence in your life, you can never gain access to your liberty. This man with palsy got up and was made completely whole! When you accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life, you accepted the forgiveness of all sin! Now, because your sins have been forgiven, each child of God has access to healing! But there’s a door you must unlock in order to access the healing— cheer!

Be of GOOD CHEER. Stir yourself up. Don’t be downcast. Don’t get in your head. Don’t remain quiet. SAY SOMETHING. Declare your healing. Magnify God. Force yourself to put a smile on your face. Be social. Crack a joke. Worship and praise God! Don’t allow yourself to worry about what could be, stay in faith and picture yourself healed. Get happy about the outcome before you see it take root on the inside of you. You’ll never know a sick day in your life again! In the name of Jesus!
